Jeonnam's Only Taekwondo Corporate Team, Enhancing Sports Prestige

Gohung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Young-min) announced that on the 22nd, it successfully held the inauguration ceremony of the "Gohung-gun Office Taekwondo Team," the only corporate Taekwondo team in Jeollanam-do, at the Gohung Palyoung Gymnasium.

At the inauguration ceremony, Gong Young-min, Governor of Gohung-gun, Lee Jae-hak, Chairman of the Gohung-gun Council, Kim Dae-jung, Superintendent of Jeollanam-do Office of Education, and Song Jin-ho, Chairman of the Jeollanam-do Sports Council attended. To celebrate the founding of the Gohung-gun Office Taekwondo Team, key figures related to Taekwondo in Korea, including Lee Dong-seop, President of Kukkiwon, and Kim Se-hyuk, Senior Vice President of the Korea Taekwondo Association, also participated.

The inauguration ceremony began with a performance by the Gohung-gun exclusive arts troupe, followed by the introduction of the athletes and the presentation of appointment letters. A plaque of appreciation from the Korea Taekwondo Association was presented to Governor Gong Young-min, and a plaque of merit from Kukkiwon was awarded to Chairman Lee Jae-hak.

In particular, the Kukkiwon Taekwondo Demonstration Team, which plays a role as a diplomatic envoy alongside the globalization of Taekwondo, performed martial arts shows including creative poomsae, Taekwon-mu, and technical breaking, providing a spectacular attraction for those attending the inauguration ceremony.

The Gohung-gun Office Taekwondo Team consists of a total of nine members, including Director Kim Jung-ok, Vice President of the Jeonnam Taekwondo Association, Coach Yang Jae-hoon, coach of the Jeonnam Taekwondo Association for the National Sports Festival, and seven athletes including Ha Sun-woo, who proudly ranked first in last year's National Taekwondo Men’s and Women’s Excellent Championships.

With the launch of the 8th term of the civilian government, Gohung-gun initiated the establishment of a new corporate sports team to promote workplace sports. After benchmarking other local governments last year, completing the review by the Gohung-gun Sports Promotion Council, and revising related ordinances, the Taekwondo team was founded.

Governor Gong Young-min said in his inaugural speech, "Gohung has become the only local government in Jeonnam with a corporate Taekwondo team," and added, "The Gohung-gun Office Taekwondo Team, representing Gohung-gun and Jeonnam, will greatly contribute to the expansion and development of the sports base."

Meanwhile, Gohung-gun plans to hold a WBO World Boxing Title Match at the Gohung Palyoung Gymnasium on Children’s Day, May 5th. By hosting the boxing event along with various attractions, it aims to revitalize the local economy by attracting visitors.
