On the 22nd (local time), the congressional news outlet The Hill reported that Melania began selling necklaces for Mother's Day gifts on her official website, with the day falling on the 12th of next month. The necklace, named "Mother's Love and Gratitude," is priced at $245 (approximately 340,000 KRW). The necklace features a flower-shaped pendant and an adjustable chain. An engraving service is also offered, allowing customers to inscribe names, initials, or important dates on the necklace.

Melania stated, "Being a mother is one of the most important roles in life," and added, "I designed this necklace to honor and express gratitude to all mothers." However, the media noted that she did not mention where the proceeds from the necklace sales would be used.

Meanwhile, another local outlet pointed out that the necklace was launched around the same time that Trump's historic criminal trial related to the "hush money" scandal entered its second week, resulting in increased legal expenses. This has led to speculation that Melania's necklace sales might be intended to help cover Trump's financial shortfall. Former President Trump, who has been on trial for the "hush money" case since the 15th, is reportedly spending nearly 200 million KRW per day on legal fees since last year. Due to this, his political funds have been depleted, with campaign spending last month reportedly only one-eighth of that of President Joe Biden.

During Trump's presidency, Melania, who refrained from external activities, has continued to keep a low profile even as Trump actively campaigned for the presidential election.

Meanwhile, former President Trump released gold sneakers featuring the American flag and a "T" logo symbolizing his image in February. The sneakers were priced at $399 (approximately 550,000 KRW) and sold out within two hours of release. Additionally, last month, he promoted the "God Bless the USA Bible," which was priced at $59.99 (approximately 80,000 KRW).
