Korea-Vietnam Strengthen Cooperation in SMEs and Ventures... "Active Cooperation Linking ODA and Events"

Minister Oh Young-joo Meets with Le Tien Chu, Party Secretary of Haiphong City, Vietnam

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced that Minister Oh Young-joo held a bilateral meeting on the 23rd at the 63 Building in Seoul at the request of Le Tien Chau, Party Secretary of Haiphong City, Vietnam.


Haiphong City, one of Vietnam's five special municipalities, is Vietnam's largest port city and an industrial hub where major Korean companies including LG Display and numerous small and medium-sized partner companies have made large-scale investments, making it a key point for Korea-Vietnam economic cooperation.


During the meeting, both sides exchanged opinions on the activities of Korean SMEs operating in Haiphong and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in the startup sector, which Haiphong City has been actively promoting recently.

They also shared collaborative activities of Chungbuk Technopark, which attended 'Techfest Haiphong 2024' hosted by Haiphong City last week along with innovative excellent companies from Cheongju City, and discussed cooperation plans with Haiphong City regarding the 'Online Export Platform Transfer ODA Project' promoted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups to expand economic development in Vietnam and exchanges between SMEs of both countries.


Minister Oh said, "Vietnam is the second largest country for Korean SMEs to enter locally and is a very important country for the globalization of Korean small and venture businesses," adding, "Through this meeting, a close cooperative relationship between Haiphong City and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups will be established, which is expected to contribute to enhancing exchanges of small and venture businesses through linking the ComeUp and Techfest events and cooperation in the Donghaeng Festival."


Party Secretary Le Tien Chau said, "Haiphong has excellent logistics and transportation infrastructure and especially provides active incentives for foreign-invested companies, making it a region where many Korean companies have entered," and added, "We hope to strengthen cooperation with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups so that more Korean companies can enter in the future."
