Gangjin-gun Holds Resident Jury Meeting to Review Fulfillment of Promises in the 8th Elected Term

County Governor Kang Jin-won: "We will do our best to become a more trusted administration"

Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kang Jinwon) appointed 22 resident jurors on the 18th to adjust the pledges of the 8th elected administration and held the first meeting.

According to the county on the 23rd, the resident juror system is part of realizing "direct democracy," where local residents directly participate in the process of checking the status of pledge implementation. It was conducted targeting Gangjin residents aged 18 and over, selected considering gender, age, and region, who previously participated as resident jurors in 2023.

They were granted the status to represent Gangjin residents, with voting rights to approve or reject adjustments to the 8th elected administration's pledge projects in Gangjin-gun, and the ability to propose improvement plans for some pledges, thus participating as key agents in policy-making.

The first meeting of the day proceeded with explanations of Gangjin-gun's pledge projects, formation of juror subcommittees, and discussion order.

The four subcommittees reviewed eight pledge projects out of Gangjin-gun's 34 pledge projects, including △payment of basic allowance to Gangjin-gun students △strengthening support policies for second-generation family businesses and youth △promotion of the "People More Beautiful Than Flowers" Gangjin project △strengthening production and distribution support policies for forest products △establishment and operation of a small business support center △establishment and operation of a 4th Industrial Revolution support center △strengthening communication through SNS △activation and operation of smart citizen health programs, through Q&A sessions and free discussions with responsible officials to identify adjustment matters.

In the second meeting to be held on the 25th, after subcommittee discussions and voting, the final approval of the pledge adjustment plan will be decided through a full vote.

Gangjin-gun previously posted the review results of each department on the "2023 Resident Jurors' Pledge Project Evaluation and Recommendations" on the Gangjin-gun website and reflected them in project implementation, continuously listening to the voices of residents and realizing a resident-participatory administration.

Governor Kang Jinwon stated, "We will do our best to adjust various matters arising during project implementation through the eyes and voices of residents to become a more trusted administration," and added, "As we head toward the mid-term of the 8th elected administration, we will save and divide time to complete the big picture of Gangjin-gun's development."
