Youth Counseling Centers Linked with Public Institutions
Comprehensive Mental Health and Employment Services
A ‘Gominjempang’ that listens to the worries of young people suffering from job insecurity has been established in Ulsan.
Ulsan City announced that it will operate the visiting youth counseling center ‘Gominjempang’ three times in total from the 23rd to the 30th.
The youth counseling center ‘Gominjempang’ provides one-stop counseling services across multiple fields to young people aged 19 to 39 who live or are active in Ulsan.
This visiting Gominjempang will be conducted through psychological and emotional lectures and counseling activities upon application from Nam-gu Youth Job Cafe and the Social Employment Policy Development Institute.
The psychological and emotional lectures aim to prevent the isolation of young people who are prone to fall into a NEET state due to job insecurity by teaching them how to manage their mental health through art therapy techniques that use colors to look into their psychological state.
NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) refers to individuals who are unemployed and neither receiving education or training for employment nor studying in other fields.
Youth who wish to receive counseling can apply through the ‘Ulsan Youth Policy Platform’ youth counseling center.
Applicants can receive support and guidance on psychological tests, vocational aptitude tests, employment and start-up linkage programs, financial and legal advice, as well as information on Ulsan youth policies through one-on-one counseling with counseling experts.
The visiting Gominjempang can be conducted after consultation between district offices, public institutions, companies, youth-related organizations in the region, and the University Youth Support Group Youth Policy Team.
An official from Ulsan City said, “We have decided to operate the visiting Gominjempang to provide highly accessible counseling services that come closer to young people,” adding, “We will visit young people who need counseling.”
From January to March this year, Gominjempang conducted a total of 40 counseling sessions, including 9 in the job sector, 6 in mental health, and 2 in finance.
