April 26th, 2 PM: Opening Ceremony of the 'Eco·Energy Center'
A Community Hub for Energy Transition, Self-Reliance Policies, and Carbon Neutrality
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it will hold an opening ceremony for the "Eco·Energy Center" (hereinafter referred to as the Center) at 2 p.m. on April 26.
The "Eco·Energy Center" is a community hub space for energy transition, self-reliance policies, and carbon neutrality, created as part of the urban regeneration New Deal project in Geumha Village, Doksan 1-dong, Geumcheon-gu.
It was established to strengthen the energy self-reliant village project voluntarily promoted by the residents of Geumha Village, secure the identity of the eco-friendly Geumha Village, and reinforce the local community.
The district invested a total project cost of 5.7 billion KRW to build the Eco·Energy Center on the site of 1118-6, 7 Doksan-dong, with a total floor area of 477㎡ and five above-ground floors.
At the entrance on the first floor, a Climate Crisis Clock is installed to raise awareness of the severity of the current climate crisis and to realize carbon neutrality. The Climate Crisis Clock indicates how much time is left until the Earth's temperature rises 1.5 degrees above pre-industrial levels.
The 1.5-Degree Circular Economy Hall on the first floor is a place to practice resource circulation with the promise of 1.5 degrees, which means "Let’s strive to keep the Earth's temperature from rising more than 1.5 degrees above pre-industrial levels." It exhibits eco-friendly products and carbon plants and provides a space where vegan cooking and upcycling classes can be held. The Eco·Energy Education Hall on the second floor is an open space where lectures and programs related to eco and energy can be conducted.
The third floor houses offices for center management and spaces available for environmental and energy-related instructors and local activists. The fourth floor is designed for various themed events such as media viewing, exhibitions, and experiences related to the climate crisis and carbon neutrality.
The fifth floor, equipped with solar power facilities, has a Building Energy Management System (BEMS) that efficiently manages the energy of the self-reliant energy building, the Center. It monitors energy usage details and provides optimized building energy management plans.
The Center serves as a gateway for expanding local energy transition and fostering a culture among residents interested in energy. It is expected to play a key role in spreading Geumcheon-gu’s carbon neutrality policies and achieving national energy transition goals.
The district plans to focus on promoting ▲ carbon neutrality support activities ▲ expansion of renewable energy ▲ training instructors for building energy diagnosis ▲ solar power potential survey projects through the Center.
Additionally, the Center is an energy self-reliant building using solar power, having acquired the highest grade of "1+++" in building energy efficiency ratings and a "Level 4 Preliminary Zero Energy Building Certification."
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, "Congratulations on the establishment of the Eco·Energy Center, a long-cherished project of the residents of Geumha Village," and added, "We will actively support the Center so that it can become a gateway to widely promote a carbon-neutral culture among residents."
