'Jungnang-gu Child Policy Participation Group' Begins Activities to Create a 'Child-Friendly City' Jungnang

Jungnang-gu (District Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) has formed a 33-member "Child Policy Participation Group" to collaboratively create a "Child-Friendly City."

The "Child Policy Participation Group," established to realize and expand children's right to participate, is a child participation organization where children, the direct beneficiaries of child policies, provide opinions on related policies and monitor children's rights.

The district selected 33 children from grades 3 to 6 in elementary school and 10 university student supporters through open recruitment and institutional recommendations, and held the 2024 Child Policy Participation Group inauguration ceremony and children's rights education on the 19th.

Over the next seven months, the Child Policy Participation Group will carry out activities such as monitoring related projects, promoting children's rights, conducting campaigns, and proposing child policies, focusing on "play," one of the six child-friendly areas.

Additionally, the Child Policy Participation Group is jointly operated with Save the Children Seoul Regional Office (Director Kim Seong-a), an international children's rights NGO, and plans to develop and distribute educational materials on children's rights reflecting the opinions of the participating children in the community.

One child appointed as a member expressed, "I want to actively participate in the Child Policy Participation Group and propose various policies so that my friends and I can all be happy."

District Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi said, "I hope you will represent the children of Jungnang-gu and propose diverse opinions," adding, "We will continue to listen to the voices of children and do our best to make Jungnang a child-friendly city where children can grow up healthy and happy."
