Seocho-gu Plants 3,000 Trees Along Yeoui Stream

Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) held a tree planting and watering event at Yeoi Stream on the 22nd to give the overheated Earth a rest in celebration of 'Earth Day.'

This event was organized to maintain the health of the Earth's ecosystem and protect the environment through tree planting, which serves as a carbon sink. With the sponsorship of SCL Group, 30 cherry blossom trees and 3,000 spiraea bushes were planted along Yeoi Stream, absorbing carbon and supplying oxygen to provide the Earth with a break.

SCL Group, which sponsored the trees this time, plans to continuously support tree planting for the next three years through an agreement with Seocho-gu and the Seocho-gu Carbon Neutral Support Center, contributing to carbon neutrality.

The event began with a signing ceremony for the 'Carbon Sink Securing Project' agreement with SCL Group, followed by tree planting, watering activities, quizzes for participants, and education related to Earth Day.

Tree planting involved not only local residents but also employees of the partner company, environmental organizations, and middle school students from the area, all joining together to protect the Earth's environment.

Moreover, beyond a simple tree planting event, education related to Earth Day was conducted to raise environmental awareness among participating students and strengthen community spirit. According to a district official, this will serve as an opportunity for students to feel a sense of responsibility for the sustainable development of the local community and environmental protection.

Jeon Seong-su, Mayor of Seocho-gu, said, "Starting with this tree planting, I ask all residents to become proactive agents in responding to the climate crisis by actively practicing and participating in carbon neutrality," adding, "We will continue to do our best in environmental protection activities to create a 'Sustainable Carbon Neutral Clean City Seocho.'"
