'From Palgongsan to Dongseongno' Vice Minister Jang Miran Visits Daegu Tourist Attractions

Exploring the Activation of Hiking and Urban-Linked Tourism
Follow-up Measures of the Public Livelihood Debate with Citizens

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 22nd that Vice Minister Jang Mi-ran experienced tourism linking hiking and the city by hiking Palgongsan Mountain with young people from Daegu and visiting the Dongseongno Yakryeongsi area.

This visit was a follow-up measure to the 16th Public Discussion on Livelihood held in Daegu on the 4th of last month. Vice Minister Jang toured sites requiring the Ministry's cooperation to revitalize tourism in Daegu.


Attendees at the site included the president of the Dongseongno Merchants Association, Hong Dudang, the owner of Geundae Golmok red bean bread, and Daegu city officials, who also shared local opinions on promoting shopping tourism.


Vice Minister Jang said, "It is a great fortune to be able to hike close to the city center," adding, "I want to widely promote tourism that links major urban centers nationwide with hiking, such as Palgongsan and Dongseongno."

She continued, "I hope local governments will also work hard so that more tourists can feel the synergistic effects of hiking and tourism," and added, "The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will also make greater efforts to help Daegu become a city of youth."
