Pet Registration Agreement Based on Text Recognition

Changwon Special City, Promotion of ICT Regulatory Sandbox Demonstration Special Case Pilot Project Changwon Special City, Agreement on Pet Registration Work Based on Illegible Handwriting Recognition.

The signing ceremony held at City Hall was attended by Jang Geum-yong, the 1st Deputy Mayor of Changwon, iSciLab CEO Choi Hyung-in, and other officials.

Through the agreement, they decided to promote ▲ the pilot (demonstration) project for pet registration based on biometric recognition ▲ integrated prior notification and guidance for joining Changwon Puppy and Any Puppy ▲ promotion of the project to Changwon citizens and animal-related businesses in the area ▲ participation in local pet-related events ▲ and mutual promotion between the partner organizations.

Biometric recognition-based animal registration involves capturing the animal's biometric (nose pattern) with a smartphone and easily registering it on the 'Changwon Puppy' app. This method is expected to increase the animal registration rate by addressing the drawbacks of the current law's animal registration chips, which are either implanted inside the body (internal type) causing discomfort or attached to collars (external type) risking loss.

Deputy Mayor Jang said, "By participating in this pilot (demonstration) project utilizing new biometric recognition technology, Changwon aims to enhance its status as a 'pet-friendly city.' We hope this method will become an alternative for animal registration with ensured accuracy and reliability." He added, "By overcoming the disadvantages of internal and external chips, pet registration can be done easily with just a smartphone without any cost. We will actively promote this so that many pet owners participate."
