Yoon Jae-ok, the floor leader of the People Power Party and acting party leader, has decided not to take the position of emergency response committee chairman and to delegate the authority to form the committee to the next floor leader.
On the afternoon of the 22nd, at the elected members' meeting held at the National Assembly, Yoon said, "Whether it is an innovation-type emergency response committee or a management-type emergency response committee, I have no intention of serving as the chairman," according to multiple attendees.
During the meeting, Assemblyman Ahn Cheol-soo told reporters, "Yoon, the floor leader, said he will not take the position of emergency response committee chairman. He said it would be better for the next elected floor leader or a new person to take the role." Proportional representative-elect Cho Bae-sook also explained, "Yoon, the acting leader, said he has no intention of taking that (emergency response committee chairman) position."
The People Power Party initially leaned toward speeding up party reorganization through a 'management-type' emergency response committee chaired by Acting Leader Yoon. However, as voices demanding an 'innovation-type' emergency response committee grew louder, mainly among non-Yoon Seok-yeol faction members and metropolitan area elected members, the direction appears to have shifted.
The People Power Party has confirmed that the first floor leader election of the 22nd National Assembly will be held on the 3rd of next month at 2 p.m.

As of this day, discussions are ongoing at the meeting to decide on the next leadership system. The management-type emergency response committee advocates for quickly electing a party leader through the next party convention to restore normalcy. Those supporting the innovation-type emergency response committee argue that preliminary work, such as analyzing the causes of the general election defeat before the party convention, should take priority.
Even among party attendees, opinions are divided between the 'management-type' and 'innovation-type' emergency response committees. Assemblyman Song Seok-jun told reporters during the meeting, "The atmosphere is different from last time," and explained, "There are talks that things cannot continue as they are." At the first elected members' meeting held on the 16th, the majority opinion was to promote a 'management-type emergency response committee' with Floor Leader Yoon as chairman to quickly organize the party leadership.
Assemblyman Kang Min-guk of the People Power Party said, "I think we need to do both innovation and management," adding, "We need to offer a sincere reflection to the public regarding this general election and also propose measures for people's livelihoods."
