Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) will operate the May program of the ‘2024 Gwangjin-gu Community Sports Class’ to improve residents' physical fitness.
Programs such as ‘Achasan Night Trekking’ and ‘Climbing (Rock Climbing)’, which were first launched last year and received great responses from the 20s to 40s age group, as well as the ‘4060 Running’ program for middle-aged residents, will continue to be operated this year.
Night trekking and climbing are held once a week for young adults in their 20s to 40s at Achasan and the artificial rock climbing wall in Ttukseom Hangang Park, respectively, while the 4060 running program takes place every Friday at Children's Grand Park.
Also, this year, the ‘Break Dance’ class will be introduced for the first time. Break dance, which has been selected as an official event for the Paris Olympics and is currently receiving much attention, is a full-body exercise that can train various muscles. It will be held twice a week for teenagers (middle and high school students) and adults.
In addition, the district operates a Stand Up Paddle (SUP) program, a water sport, at the windsurfing site in Ttukseom Hangang Park. The program targets socially disadvantaged youth such as basic livelihood security recipients, and plans to expand the target group during the summer vacation period.
Any Gwangjin-gu resident can take the classes for free. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis through the Gwangjin-gu Office website.
From the 24th, recruitment for the 1st to 4th sessions of ▲Break Dance and ▲4060 Running will begin, and from the 29th, recruitment for ▲Night Trekking, ▲Climbing, ▲4060 Running sessions 5 to 8, and ▲Stand Up Paddle (SUP) participants will start.
The operation period and number of recruits vary by program, and detailed information can be found on the Gwangjin-gu Office website.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “We have organized this year’s programs more diversely and substantially so that all residents can enjoy the pleasure of exercise without burden,” and added, “We will continue to expand the community sports classes and do our best to create a healthy and vibrant Gwangjin-gu.”
