Daejeon Yuseong-gu announced that it has completed the expansion project of ‘Smart Senior Centers’ to improve digital accessibility in the daily lives of the elderly.

The Smart Senior Centers expansion project was promoted after being selected in the ‘Smart Village Distribution and Expansion Project’ contest hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT, securing 1.452 billion KRW in funding.

The number of Smart Senior Centers increased by 55 from the existing 65 locations during the 8th local government term, totaling 120 centers.

The Smart Senior Centers introduced new features such as kiosk order experience and education (18 types), constant monitoring of self-measured health results via smartphones, app push notification services, and digital signage health measurement items (respiratory rate, stress index), while improving non-face-to-face measurement methods.

To operate the Smart Senior Centers efficiently, the district applies the senior job project by assigning individuals skilled in using digital devices to support elderly residents in widely utilizing smart devices in their daily lives.

Additionally, through the Smart Senior Centers, the district plans to assist elderly people with mobility difficulties in participating in non-face-to-face leisure culture programs and aims to establish the centers as complex cultural spaces for welfare counseling, health management, and sharing lifestyle information.

Jung Yong-rae, Mayor of Yuseong-gu, stated, “The shift to a digital society is an inevitable trend of the times,” adding, “We will strive to provide various non-face-to-face leisure programs and digital device experience education at the Smart Senior Centers so that the elderly can enjoy a vibrant daily life.”
