Hwang Jeong-a, Elected Representative of Daejeon Yuseong-gu Eul / Office of the Elected Representative

Hwang Jeong-ah, the elected member of the National Assembly for Yuseong-gu Eul, Daejeon, has been appointed as the new spokesperson for the Democratic Party of Korea.

Hwang stated, "On the 19th, Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, who appeared with me on the Delhi Minju YouTube broadcast, proposed the spokesperson position to me, and it was confirmed on the afternoon of the 21st when spokesperson Han Min-su announced the party position reshuffle plan."

Hwang Jeong-ah said, “I feel a deep sense of responsibility in taking on the important role of spokesperson for the ruling party in the National Assembly during a time when South Korea is facing a complex crisis involving the livelihood economy, democracy, security, peace, and diplomacy. I will faithfully convey the Democratic Party of Korea’s policies and sincerity to the people and relay the voices of the people to the party.”

She added, “I will also make sure not to neglect representing the voices of the science and technology community and young people who are struggling due to the violent R&D budget cuts by the Yoon Seok-yeol administration.”

Hwang Jeong-ah is a former senior researcher at the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute and was a key figure in the development of the first scientific satellite payload and the successful development of the satellite mounted on the Nuri rocket. She graduated from Jeonnam Science High School and earned her bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in physics from KAIST. In the 22nd general election, she was recruited as a science and technology talent by the Democratic Party of Korea and ran for the Yuseong-gu Eul constituency in Daejeon, where she was elected.
