"Japanese Friend Scammed at Korean Hair Salon" Controversy Spreads
Hair Salon and Post Author Reach Amicable Agreement
"Full Refund and Measures Taken... Please Do Not Mention Further"
Amid growing controversy over a story that a Japanese friend was charged 800,000 won at Salon A located in Gangnam, it has been reported that the post author and the salon have reached an amicable agreement.
On the 22nd, according to online communities and Salon A, the post author, Mr. A, stated that he had a phone conversation with the salon and received a sincere apology regarding the controversy. Mr. A began by saying, "My Japanese friend hoped to receive an apology from the salon, so I spoke with them and received a heartfelt apology, which led me to believe that the misunderstandings caused by this incident have been resolved."
Mr. A added, "It is true that my Japanese friend initially agreed to the price, and it is also true that although he somewhat did not understand, he tended to pretend that he did. The salon provided a full refund and a gift as a token of apology, and everyone is satisfied with this resolution. The friend who was affected does not wish to take any further action." He continued, "Since this matter has already been settled, I am concerned that continued mention of the salon’s name could cause harm to the salon, so I ask that the salon’s name no longer be mentioned to prevent further issues."
The salon also released a statement to the media, saying, "We contacted the person who wrote the post and cleared up the misunderstanding," and "Mr. A promised to promptly delete his post." In fact, the controversial post was deleted as of the 22nd.
Previously, on the 18th, a post titled "Charged 800,000 won at a salon, is this a scam?" was uploaded to an online community. The author claimed that a Japanese friend was charged 800,000 won after receiving a perm and haircut at a salon in Gangnam, sparking heated debate among netizens.
