Selected 9 Korea-Japan University Student Exchange Programs
20 Universities with 'Paran Sadari' Program
The Korea Student Aid Foundation (Chairman Bae Byeong-il) announced the participating universities for the 2024 academic year ‘Korea-Japan University Student Exchange’ and ‘Paran Sadari’ programs on the 22nd.
Both programs provide overseas study opportunities to undergraduate students enrolled in domestic universities, and universities were recruited to participate from February 27 to March 29.
The ‘Korea-Japan University Student Exchange’ is a newly established program this year aimed at revitalizing exchanges between the future generations of Korea and Japan and enhancing the global competencies of domestic university students. A total of 17 universities applied, and 9 universities were finally selected. The universities selected for the ‘Korea-Japan University Student Exchange’ program are Catholic Sangji University, Gumi University, Namseoul University, Dong-Eui University, Samyook University, Yuhan University, Chonnam National University, Hanseo University, and Hanyang Women’s University.
‘Paran Sadari,’ first implemented in 2018, is a representative overseas study program for university students. Starting this year, applications were accepted separately for short-term study (Type 1) of about one month and mid-term study (Type 2) of four months or longer.
As a result of the application, 27 universities applied for the short-term Type 1 program, and 16 universities were finally selected. The universities selected for ‘Paran Sadari’ Type 1 are Catholic Sangji University, Kangwon National University, Keimyung Culture University, Gumi University, Daegu University, Daegu Health College, Tongmyong University, Dong-Eui University, Pusan National University, Samyook University, Seojeong University, Sunmoon University, Ansan University, Yeungnam College of Science & Technology, Jeonbuk National University, and Korea National University of Arts.
For the mid-term Type 2 program, 10 universities applied, and 4 universities were finally selected: Kongju National University, Dong-Eui University, Samyook University, and Sunmoon University.
The universities selected for the ‘Korea-Japan University Student Exchange’ and ‘Paran Sadari’ programs will accept student applications until early May. Since the scale, selection criteria, and schedule vary by university, interested students should check the relevant details with each participating university individually.
For ‘Paran Sadari’ Type 1, not only students belonging to the selected universities but also students from nearby other universities can apply to the selected universities. This is because all universities selected for ‘Paran Sadari’ Type 1 in 2024 are required to select at least 15% of their recruitment quota from students of other universities. Students interested in participating in ‘Paran Sadari’ Type 1 can inquire at the selected universities within the same region even if their own university is not on the list of selected universities. On the other hand, only students belonging to the selected universities can apply for the ‘Korea-Japan University Student Exchange’ and ‘Paran Sadari’ Type 2 programs.
Bae Byeong-il, Chairman of the Korea Student Aid Foundation, said, “It is meaningful that the foundation can provide overseas study opportunities to university students,” and added, “As the Korea Student Aid Foundation is a leading institution in higher education scholarship systems, we will fulfill our role with infinite responsibility to help university students improve their language and employment skills.”
Chairman Bae also urged, “I hope many economically and socially vulnerable university students apply,” and added, “The government is continuously striving to provide more opportunities to such students, so I hope they have the courage to take on the challenge.”
