Lee Jun-seok, leader of the Reform New Party, on the 22nd demanded that the Democratic Party of Korea withdraw its pledge to provide a 250,000 won livelihood recovery support fund per person nationwide.
At the Reform New Party's Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, that morning, Lee said, "It is necessary to set income criteria and adjust so that benefits go to those who really need them."
He added, "Last year's fiscal deficit reached a shocking 87 trillion won, a figure announced right after the general election," and said, "the inflation issue is very serious, and amid concerns about inflation, the Democratic Party's claim that money should be injected overlaps, spreading worries that the country might go bankrupt."
Lee also said, "If Lee Jae-myung shows the image of a national leader who worries about prices and inflation, the people will see that as a framework for cooperation."
Regarding the 'summit meeting' between President Yoon and Lee Jae-myung, he said, "The Reform New Party positively evaluates and looks forward to the meeting between the president and the opposition leader," but added, "I hope it will not be filled only with each side's judicial risks or political talks."
Lee said, "I hope the two leaders will meet first to frankly discuss the most important fiscal issues and find solutions."
