Cheonan City Successfully Implements 3D Cadastral Lines Using Drone 3D Models

Possible to Verify On-Site and Visualize Boundaries from Various Perspectives

Cheonan City Successfully Implements 3D Cadastral Lines Using Drone 3D Models

Cheonan City in Chungnam Province has become the first local government in the country to successfully implement three-dimensional cadastral boundaries using drone 3D (three-dimensional) models.

On the 22nd, the city announced that it created a 3D model identical to the real world in a virtual space using footage captured by drones, realizing three-dimensional cadastral boundaries that reflect terrain information and achieving the stereoscopic visualization of orthophotos.

Until now, in the field of spatial information, the transition from flat cadastral maps to three-dimensional cadastral maps has emerged as an important task for the digital government, but there have been limitations in applying accurate cadastral boundary lines that reflect terrain information.

Lee Sang-yeol, an official from the Smart Information Division, succeeded in implementing three-dimensional cadastral boundaries in a virtual space identical to the field by applying surveying-based three-dimensional cadastral boundaries that incorporate terrain information into a 3D model based on the open-source 'Cesium (flight simulator)'.

The 3D model with implemented three-dimensional cadastral boundaries can be produced within one day by public officials themselves. Due to the characteristics of the 3D model, the site can be checked from various perspectives, and the cadastral boundaries can be visualized by reflecting terrain information.

It is expected to be utilized in various fields such as cadastral re-surveys, cadastral confirmation surveys, river investigations, development project district management, and completion inspections in the future.

A city official stated, “The responsible staff succeeded in implementing the three-dimensional cadastral boundaries by utilizing conversational AI technology,” and added, “We plan to actively expand its use across various administrative fields.”
