"Even if Moving to Another District..." Gangseo-gu Provides Moving Expenses for Vulnerable Groups

Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) is expanding the ‘Kkachi Express’ project, which provides moving cost support of up to 1 million KRW to vulnerable groups.

The ‘Kkachi Express’ project was first introduced by Gangseo-gu in 2022 to reduce the burden of moving expenses for vulnerable groups such as basic livelihood security recipients and near-poverty households.

Through this project, the district was selected as an outstanding local government at the ‘2023 Accompanying the Vulnerable Local Government Support Project Performance Report Meeting’ held by Seoul City in February, securing 40 million KRW from the city. Including 40 million KRW from the district budget, a total of 80 million KRW was secured, doubling the budget from last year and expanding the number of beneficiaries.

The support targets have been expanded this year from livelihood and medical benefit recipients, persons with disabilities, elderly, and near-poverty households with minor family members to include protection-terminated children leaving child welfare facilities.

Support is provided not only for moves within Gangseo-gu but also for moves to other districts within Seoul. However, moves to cities outside Seoul are not supported.

Up to 1 million KRW per household is supported, and for amounts exceeding 1 million KRW, moving companies with social contribution intentions are connected to help reduce costs by more than half or provide free services. Interested households can inquire at the district’s Welfare Support Division or their local community service center.

Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, “Since vulnerable groups face significant financial burdens each time they move, we have greatly expanded this project this year,” adding, “We will continue to develop various projects to ensure housing stability for vulnerable groups.”
