Reopening of Closed Incheon Foreign Workers Support Center... Support for Local Settlement

Incheon City announced on the 22nd that it has resumed the operation of the Foreign Workers Support Center to help foreign workers settle stably.

The center was closed at the end of last year due to government budget cuts but resumed operation after Incheon City was selected in the Ministry of Employment and Labor's 'Foreign Workers Regional Settlement Support Project' competition.

The center, operated on consignment by the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions Incheon Headquarters, provides Korean language and computer education for foreign workers, settlement support, and grievance counseling services. About 350 people have registered for the Korean language and computer courses.

The center also operates the Incheon City recommendation system for converting to the foreign skilled worker (E-7-4) visa and supports various cultural experience events. The center is located in Nonhyeon-dong, Namdong-gu, and its operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. It is closed on Fridays and Saturdays.

An official from Incheon City stated, "Foreign workers face many difficulties in social adaptation and information exchange, so a center that can support them is necessary," adding, "We will do our best to help foreign workers settle stably and to establish a foundation for social integration."
