Blood Alcohol Concentration 0.08% or Higher
A woman in her 50s who hit a motorcycle rider while driving under the influence and fled the scene was caught by the police.
On the 21st, the Gimpo Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced that they are investigating a woman in her 50s, identified as A, on charges including hit-and-run causing injury under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes.
A is accused of driving a passenger car while intoxicated at around 1:15 a.m. the previous day on a road in Tongjin-eup, Gimpo City, and hitting a motorcycle ridden by a man in his 30s, identified as B, causing him injury. The man was driving in the wrong direction when he collided with B’s oncoming motorcycle, and A fled the scene immediately after the accident but was caught by police who responded to the report.
At the time of arrest, A’s blood alcohol concentration was above 0.08%, the legal limit for license cancellation.
The police plan to review whether to request an arrest warrant after confirming the detailed circumstances of the accident and the hit-and-run with A.
A police official stated, "B is currently able to communicate and is not in a life-threatening condition," adding, "We plan to investigate the details of the crime with A."
