Ahead of the Two Major Sports Events, Gimhae City Recruits 2,024 Citizen Supporters

Gimhae City in Gyeongnam is recruiting 2,024 citizen supporters to help ensure the successful operation of the National Sports Festival and the National Para Sports Festival, two major events to be held in 2024.

The Gimhae citizen supporters will be responsible for ▲promoting the National Sports Festival and National Para Sports Festival ▲creating a welcoming atmosphere for visitors from other cities and provinces ▲watching and cheering at the games ▲maintaining the environment around the venues ▲observing order and conducting kindness campaigns.

The application period for supporters is from the 22nd of this month until June 28.

Anyone aged 18 or older living in Gimhae can apply by submitting their application either at the administrative welfare center in their jurisdiction or through the ‘Online Application/Registration’ section on the citizen participation board of Gimhae City’s official website.

Supporters will receive up to 4 hours of volunteer activity credit per day and promotional items related to the sports festivals.

Outstanding supporters will be awarded commendations from the governor and the mayor.

The city announced that the number of supporters was set at 2,024 to commemorate the year 2024 when the two sports festivals will be held.

A city official stated, “The role of citizen supporters is important for the smooth operation of the two major sports festivals,” and added, “We hope for much interest and participation.”
