5K Sarangnanum Bus Delivers Love to Elderly Residents of Yeongheungdo, Incheon

5K Sarangnanum Bus Delivers Love to Elderly Residents of Yeongheungdo, Incheon

NCMN 5K Friends (Acting Shin Heejae, Secretary) announced on the 11th that the ‘5K Love Sharing Bus’ was dispatched to Yeongheungdo, Incheon, and practiced neighborly love with about 100 elderly people together with Yeongheung Church, which has a history of over 130 years.

This 5K Love Sharing Bus, jointly organized by the NCMN 5K Movement Incheon-Gimpo Branch, NC Medical Center, and the Visiting 5K Team, conducted activities centered around the Oe4-ri Senior Center in Yeongheungdo, including medical volunteer work, beauty services, longevity photo shoots, and meal service. Furthermore, they toured the entire village providing public health and hygiene volunteer services, creating a positive influence around the village.

Starting by baking and sharing bungeoppang (fish-shaped pastry) outside the senior center to warm the hearts of the elderly, inside, beauty services and longevity photo shoots captured the beautiful appearances of the seniors in photographs. Additionally, the Medical Center team made efforts to provide the best medical services despite environmental limitations and showed passion by volunteering busily without even taking a lunch break.

While the activities were in full swing, volunteers from the 5K Incheon-Gimpo Branch carefully prepared and served lunch in the kitchen. After the medical volunteer work and lunch, comedian Oh Jiheon (44 years old), who is active as a secretary of NCMN, presented a moving sand art performance. The house assigned to the wallpaper volunteer team of the Yeongheungdo 5K Love Sharing Bus was that of the village’s oldest elder (105 years old), who had passed away a few days earlier. The initial plan was to cleanly wallpaper the house, but unexpectedly, the entire ceiling had to be replaced. Thanks to the volunteers’ quick judgment and skilled expertise, they perfectly completed the ceiling replacement and wallpapering, faithfully finishing the volunteer work to the end.

Lastly, 5K Love Sharing Boxes prepared by the honest company “Wangui Company” were distributed to the elders of Oe4-ri. The pastor of Yeongheung Church, who participated that day, said, “I was curious about what the 5K Movement was, but through the volunteers’ service, I realized it is truly an amazing activity. It was astonishing to see the hearts of the elders open, and especially, the joy and happiness the elders felt being treated with dignity while receiving the prepared food, medical volunteer services, beauty services, and makeup before the longevity photo shoots.”

The 5K Love Sharing Bus activity is an event of the ‘5K Movement,’ an initiative by NCMN (CEO Kim Mijin) that practices neighborly love by visiting areas affected by national disasters, regions in urgent need of help, or neighbors in blind spots requiring assistance. NCMN announced that it will continue this activity, which has been steadily practiced since 2019, into the future.
