The Korea-China economic and trade exchange event, ‘2024 Korea-Shenyang Week,’ will be held from April 24 to 25 at the Swiss Grand Hotel Convention Hall in Seoul. Marking the 32nd anniversary of Korea-China diplomatic relations, this event is hosted by the Shenyang Municipal Government of Liaoning Province, China, the Korea International Trade Association, the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, the Korea Food Industry Association, and the Korea Health Industry Development Institute.
Notably, this ‘2024 Korea-Shenyang Week’ carries special significance as it is the first time the event, which has been successfully held 20 times in Shenyang, China as ‘China Shenyang-Korea Week,’ is being hosted in Korea, continuing the achievements of bilateral economic and trade friendship cooperation.
Along with the opening ceremony on April 24, during the event period, economic and trade cooperation forums will be held, including the Korea-China Food Industry Investment Promotion Forum, Korea-China Bio-pharmaceutical and Medical Beauty Industry Forum, Korea-China Fashion and Culture Industry Forum, and Korea-China New Energy and Energy-saving Eco-friendly Industry Forum. Fifty-five leading companies from Shenyang’s advanced machinery and equipment, bio-pharmaceuticals, modern agriculture and food, and cultural tourism sectors will participate to discuss joint cooperation with Korean companies. The event will also provide an opportunity to experience and understand the industrial development status and traditional culture of Shenyang, a core area of economic development in Northeast China.
During the event, former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, former Prime Minister Lee Hae-chan, and many political and economic figures who have maintained long-standing friendly relations with Liaoning Province, China, along with representatives from major Korean economic and trade organizations such as the Korea International Trade Association, Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, Korea Food Industry Association, and Korea Health Industry Development Institute, as well as leaders from major Korean companies including Samsung, SK, LG, CJ, and Doosan, will be invited. Together with Hao Feng, Party Secretary of Liaoning Province, Xing Haiming, Ambassador of the Chinese Embassy in Korea, and Shenyang city officials, they will review past achievements in bilateral exchanges and cooperation and seek ways to further develop exchanges and cooperation in all fields including economy, trade, culture, education, science and technology, and sports.
Shenyang, a city with a population of 9.2 million familiar to Korea through many exchanges, is the capital of Liaoning Province and a city of advanced equipment manufacturing and historical culture in China. It is also known as the ‘China Equipment Ministry’ for its renowned equipment manufacturing industry. Currently, the Shenyang National Innovation Demonstration Zone hosts 45 universities, 56 scientific research institutions, and 76 nationally certified innovation platforms. Located at the geographical center of Northeast Asia, Shenyang is the core of the Northeast Asia and Bohai Bay economic zones and is one of China’s 20 international comprehensive transportation hub cities, maintaining economic and trade exchanges with 221 countries and cities.
Through the ‘2024 Korea-Shenyang Week,’ Shenyang hopes to share the opportunities of its infinite development potential and dynamism with Korea, achieve mutual growth, and create a shared future.
