Last November, the corporation obtained re-certification for the internationally recognized safety standard, the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (ISO45001). ISO45001 is awarded after evaluating the establishment of systems to prevent and manage various risks and disasters in advance, and the corporation has received a ‘conformity’ rating for three consecutive years.

Furthermore, the corporation upgraded its safety-related work processes and secured external credibility by receiving the ‘Sports Facility Safety Management Certification (KSPO45001),’ which is granted to sports facilities with excellent safety management.

The corporation is also strengthening its safety management system through cooperation with specialized safety management organizations. Through memorandums of understanding with safety management institutions such as K-water, the Korea Infrastructure Safety & Technology Corporation, and the Korea Electrical Engineers Association, it is focusing on enhancing practical safety management capabilities through technology transfer, joint safety inspections, and training.

In particular, the corporation actively incorporates the expertise of these specialized organizations by conducting joint water quality inspections of swimming pools with K-water and joint inspections of aging facilities with the Korea Infrastructure Safety & Technology Corporation.

In addition, the corporation is making special efforts for citizen safety by establishing a field-centered training system that enables all employees to take responsibility for customer safety.

To improve rapid emergency response and initial treatment capabilities in case of customer emergencies, all employees undergo cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training and simulated safety accident drills at swimming pools.

The CPR training, aimed at having all employees obtain emergency treatment certification, is being conducted regionally from February to May for approximately 630 employees in cooperation with the Changwon Fire Headquarters and Changwon Health Center.

Moreover, simulated drills are conducted at each swimming pool to strengthen response capabilities in emergencies such as drowning incidents.

Starting with the Ulinuri Youth Culture Center swimming pool in January, these drills involve swimming instructors, safety personnel, the 119 Safety Center, the YMCA Safety Committee, and customers using the facilities.

The training covers scenarios based on realistic situations, including drowning occurrence, rescue, 119 emergency calls, CPR and other emergency treatments, arrival of the 119 rescue team, and hospital transport.

Director Kim Jonghae stated, “By establishing a more advanced safety management system in preparation for disasters, accidents, and various safety incidents, we will make every effort to ensure that citizens can use the facilities more safely.”
