Saemirae: "We Will Walk the Path of Self-Reliance with the Spirit of Re-Establishment"

Lee Seok-hyun "Checking Causes of Defeat, Will Overhaul"

The New Future, which has transitioned to an emergency response committee system, emphasized that it will walk the path of self-reliance with the spirit of reestablishment.

On the 19th, Lee Seok-hyun, the emergency committee chairman, said at the 1st emergency committee meeting held at the Yeouido party headquarters, "We will thoroughly examine the causes of defeat and completely overhaul them, starting anew with the spirit of reestablishment."

Chairman Lee evaluated, "The reason New Future suffered a crushing defeat in the general election was because the leadership failed," adding, "They clung only to political engineering and lost freshness. They promoted new politics, but their methods were old-fashioned politics. Instead of blaming the people, we must blame ourselves and reinvent."

Chairman Lee said that the party can fully recover thanks to enthusiastic party members. He stated, "The Democratic Party's 1 million members collected about 400 million won in membership fees over a year, but our New Future members reached 400 million won within just three days of opening the account," adding, "When we create a path for the pure passion of our members to penetrate the hearts of our people, our party will be able to recover."

The issue of demonization of Lee Nak-yeon, the co-representative of the political circle, is also a task to be resolved. Chairman Lee added, "I believe that resolving the grievances over the demonization of Lee Nak-yeon will be possible when the loyalty of our party members is conveyed to the people through their passion."

Finally, he said, "Many party members volunteered in Gwangju and various candidate regions during this general election, but we failed to organize and efficiently allocate their enthusiasm for use in the election," adding, "It is regrettable that the efforts of many volunteers went unrecognized, and the leadership must efficiently allocate, position, and draw out the passion of party members."
