According to the city, the Tourism Organization conducted a public contest targeting 65 preliminary cultural tourism festivals scheduled for 2024-2025 and selected three festivals, including the 'Hwaseong Boat Play Festival,' for support.

The city will receive support for developing the festival's brand image (BI) and exclusive character, as well as for producing tourism souvenirs utilizing these elements. The city especially expects that this selection will enhance the festival's identity establishment, increase recognition, and boost promotional effects for the city.

Marking its 14th year, the Hwaseong Boat Play Festival will be held from May 31 to June 2 at Jeongok Port in Seosin-myeon. This year's event, themed 'The Sea Where Imagination Becomes Reality,' will feature yacht and boat rides, marine leisure and land experiences, visitor-participatory cultural and artistic performances, and nighttime programs.

The city plans to develop various festival goods and tourism souvenirs linked to the official mascot 'Koriyo' and promote diverse marketing strategies to attract tourists.

Jung Myung-geun, Mayor of Hwaseong City, stated, "We will discover a character representing the Hwaseong Boat Play Festival to solidify our image as the largest marine leisure city in the metropolitan area and develop it into a global festival representing Korea through aggressive global marketing."
