Staritz "MD Hotel Donates Eco-Friendly Special Adsorption Filters to Capture Fine Dust in Geumcheon-gu"

Staritz, a KOSPI-listed company, announced on the 19th that its subsidiary MD Hotel donated and installed 52 'fine dust reduction adsorption filters' in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, which have the effect of planting 429 trees.

MD Hotel carried out the fine dust reduction project as part of practicing ESG management and regional coexistence.

A company representative said, "The installation of adsorption filters is expected to improve the nearby air environment and contribute to protecting the health of hotel guests and local residents."

The adsorption filters are made of an eco-friendly special fabric called theBreath?, which functions to adsorb and capture ultrafine dust and other air pollutants without power.

According to the Korea Testing & Research Institute, 1㎡ of theBreath? adsorption filter reduces 436g of ultrafine dust generating substances annually. This amount is equivalent to the ultrafine dust reduction effect of about 12 trees.

The 52 fine dust adsorption filters installed by MD Hotel cover a total area of 35.77㎡, resulting in an annual ultrafine dust reduction effect of 15,596g and an effect equivalent to planting approximately 429 trees.

The areas where the adsorption filters were installed include Cherry Blossom Road and Beoman-ro near Doksan Station on Subway Line 1 and Doosan Elementary School. This section has heavy traffic and a concentration of air emission businesses, leading Geumcheon-gu to designate it as a fine dust intensive management zone and manage it specially.

This donation of adsorption filters is seen as a move in line with the mandatory ESG disclosure for all KOSPI-listed companies scheduled for 2030.

A Staritz representative stated, "By installing special fabric near MD Hotel Doksan branch and roads near the elementary school, we can protect the health of not only hotel guests but also local residents. We plan to further expand air quality improvement activities for local residents in cooperation with Geumcheon-gu and accelerate ESG management."

Meanwhile, MD Hotel plans to install about 350 special frames with sterilization, antibacterial, and air purification functions by combining special fabric for fine dust reduction and CVD photocatalyst panels in guest rooms, restaurants, and conference rooms during the first half of this year.
