Opening of 'Seoripul Art Studio'

The First Underground Passage at Yesul-ui Jeondang Reborn as a Cultural Space for Young Artists

Opening of 'Seoripul Art Studio'

Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) held the opening ceremony of the Seoripul Art Studio, located in the first underground passage of the Seoul Arts Center, on the 18th.

The Seoripul Art Studio is a newly transformed cultural space created from the dark and aging underground passage of the Seoul Arts Center, which had low usage by residents, into a multi-purpose area where young artists can nurture their dreams and enjoy various activities.

The space consists of ▲ a music pub providing relaxation through music (approximately 33㎡) ▲ a music library filled with nostalgic LPs (approximately 17㎡) ▲ and three practice rooms (approximately 74㎡).

The event was attended by Seocho-gu Mayor Jeon Seong-su, elected National Assembly member Shin Dong-wook, officials from Korea National University of Arts and Seoul Arts Center, as well as young artists, celebrating the opening of the newly established Seoripul Art Studio.

Additionally, Mayor Jeon Seong-su and elected National Assembly member Shin Dong-wook donated LP records to the music library located within the art studio. Visitors to the studio will be able to freely enjoy LP music that evokes nostalgic feelings.

Since 2018, the underground passage right in front of the Seoul Arts Center has also been developed as the 'Seoripul Youth Art Gallery,' exhibiting works by young artists and supporting creative activities.

Seocho-gu Mayor Jeon Seong-su said, “I hope the ‘Seoripul Art Studio’ becomes a space where young artists can freely carry out their creative activities,” and added, “I also hope residents passing through the underground passage enjoy the studio and pass through safely.”
