Supporting Children's Healthy Growth
Basic Soccer Skills Training: Shooting, Dribbling, Passing
POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks (Director Lee Dong-ryeol) supported the growth of children by conducting a soccer class volunteer activity for about 40 children from multicultural families and local children's centers at Baegun Greenland Futsal Field in Gwangyang City on the 17th.
The "Happy Dream Tree Soccer Class Talent Volunteer Group (Leader Choi Yong-ho)," which conducted the soccer class, was founded in 2020 by Gwangyang Steelworks employees who love soccer with the goal of going beyond conventional volunteering to create activities that both volunteers and beneficiaries can enjoy together. Since then, they have carried out various activities to help stabilize the emotions and promote the healthy growth of children from underprivileged groups in the region.

The talent volunteer group, mainly composed of soccer club members from Gwangyang Steelworks, has regularly held soccer classes using their soccer skills to help children from multicultural families and local children's centers grow up healthily.
About 100 youths from Jungma Local Children's Center participate as trainees in the soccer classes.
In addition, the talent volunteer group has carried out good deeds such as ▲ playing futsal games with children and distributing soccer equipment ▲ watching Jeonnam Dragons home games ▲ Trischool woodworking experience ▲ donation activities.
During the soccer class held that day, the children learned basic soccer skills such as shooting, dribbling, and passing, formed teams, and played futsal games, promoting not only their physical health but also emotional exchange.
A representative from Taein Local Children's Center, who participated in the soccer class, said, "We are grateful to the Gwangyang Steelworks talent volunteer group for always giving dreams and hope to the children in our region," and added, "We ask for Gwangyang Steelworks' continuous support and interest so that the children can grow up healthy and happy."
Choi Yong-ho, leader of the Happy Dream Tree Soccer Class Talent Volunteer Group at Gwangyang Steelworks, said, "I feel proud to be able to help the happy growth of children in our region through soccer," and added, "We will continue to carry out volunteer activities so that the children who will lead our future can grow up happily."
Meanwhile, Gwangyang Steelworks is carrying out various support activities to help local children grow up healthy and bright, including ▲ delivering hope kits with school supplies for the new semester ▲ "Bridge of Hope," which helps psychological healing for children with special disabilities ▲ "Da(g)achi Kiwoomae (Love) Project," which provides opportunities for talent discovery and cultural experiences for children from multicultural families ▲ traditional play culture education ▲ coding education.
