Choi Tae-won, Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and concurrently Chairman of SK Group, will participate as a speaker at the 29th Nikkei Forum to be held next month in Tokyo, Japan.

According to business circles on the 18th, Chairman Choi will attend the Nikkei Forum, which will take place over two days starting from the 23rd of next month. The Nikkei Forum is an international conference where global corporate leaders gather to discuss the latest trends in management.

The specific agenda of the forum has not yet been decided. However, since the main theme of this forum is 'The Future of Asia,' it is expected that opinions will be exchanged regarding the political and economic issues in the Asia-Pacific region and Asia's role in a global environment where nationalism is spreading.

This year, three Koreans will participate in the Nikkei Forum, including Chairman Choi, Park Cheol-hee, President of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy, and Jang Wan-seok, an economist at the ASEAN Economic Research Institute (ERIA).

At this event, Chairman Choi is expected to propose ways to enhance economic cooperation between Korea and Japan. The plan he has mentioned so far is the establishment of a 'Korea-Japan Economic Cooperation Body.' He referred to this at the 'Tokyo Forum 2023' held in Tokyo at the end of last year. The idea is that Korea and Japan, which are facing similar challenges such as low birth rates and aging populations, should create an economic cooperation body to raise their voices in the global market and shift from being 'rule takers' to 'rule setters.'
