Underground Development of Olympic-daero and Gangbyeonbuk-ro
Joo Myung-geon, Honorary Chairman of Sejong University, stated on the 17th, "South Korea is being threatened by North Korea, which is supported by China, with the destruction of Seoul in a sea of fire," and added, "The construction of an underground city is an essential prerequisite for deterrence of war."
At the Land Renovation Strategy seminar held at the Dae-yang AI Center that day, Honorary Chairman Joo said, "The principle of war is fundamentally to be prepared for any contingency; after preventing a surprise attack by the enemy, it is necessary to be able to launch a counterattack to deter war," and added, "While developing offensive weapons to suppress the enemy is important, if the initial damage is severe, counterattacks become impossible."
Honorary Chairman Joo explained, "To alleviate traffic congestion caused by the rapidly increasing population in new towns in Seoul, it is necessary to put 121 km of riverside roads underground," and continued, "During normal times, the underground city can be used as a comfortable entrusted facility, and in emergencies, it can serve as an air-raid shelter. After constructing underground plazas, roads, and subways on the riverside land next to the riverside road, restoring the riverside land and leasing about 30,000 underground stores can cover the construction costs."
Honorary Chairman Joo emphasized, "In the event of a nuclear attack, evacuation for at least 2 to 3 weeks is necessary. The facility must be equipped with air conditioning and lodging facilities, and entrances that prevent radiation exposure must be installed," and added, "The underground facility should be 9 meters high and built in two floors, allowing the use of stores, swimming pools, ice rinks, and public facilities. By projecting videos on LED screens on the ceiling, it can be made into a world-class attraction like the Las Vegas Sphere."
Honorary Chairman Joo stated, "The height of the underground facility should be the same as the existing riverside road to preserve citizens' views. Restoring the riverside land to its original state can secure a space larger than now," and added, "Connecting 60 km from Hanam City to Ilsan KINTEX and installing large malls and various public facilities at both ends can greatly improve the quality of life for citizens."
