Gyeongsan City Wins Grand Prize in 'Urban Diversity' at Global City Brand Awards

Gyeongsan City received the grand prize in the 'Urban Diversity' category at the 2024 Global City Brand Awards ceremony, held on April 17 at the International Conference Hall of the Korea Press Center.

The Global City Brand Awards, organized by Sisa Journal, recognize institutions that have achieved outstanding results by overcoming regional limitations or boundaries through the discovery of sustainable brands in the global era. The awards focus on evaluating global growth potential and the future value of city brands.

Gyeongsan's efforts to revitalize stagnant city marketing were highly praised, particularly for centering on the new city brand, 'My Universe, Gyeongsan,' which was renewed for the first time in 10 years to embody the image of a self-shining 'star.' This brand reflects the city's core policy of creating a 'citizen-centered city of happiness.'

Gyeongsan also received positive evaluations for its vision and diverse appeal across industry, economy, construction, and society. Notable initiatives include: securing a foundation for future growth through the development of Imdang Unicorn Park and 42 Gyeongsan Innovation Academy as an 'ICT industry startup hub' in the Daeim District; establishing a corporate support platform to lead the future vehicle industry by designating a next-generation wireless charging regulatory free zone for electric vehicles in the Gyeongsan Knowledge Industry District; constructing a high-speed arterial road connecting the northern and southern regions of Gyeongsan; and being selected for a project to build a high-precision electronic map that digitizes various types of city information, such as roads and water and sewage systems.

Joo Hyunil, Mayor of Gyeongsan, stated, "This award is the result of the encouragement and support of our 280,000 citizens. Moving forward, together with over 1,300 city officials, we will work even harder to ensure that everyone in Korea can discover the diverse charms of our city."

To further spread the value of its city brand, Gyeongsan is also accelerating the development of its representative symbols, including a new CI and character. As a city with infinite possibilities, Gyeongsan plans to strategically promote its elevated status both domestically and internationally through targeted marketing.
