Gyeonggi-do Partners with Private Companies to Improve Indoor Air Quality in Senior Centers and More

Gyeonggi Province is partnering with private companies to improve indoor air quality in facilities used by vulnerable groups, such as senior centers, daycare centers, and welfare facilities.


On the 17th, Gyeonggi Province signed a business agreement titled “Creating Clean Breathing Spaces in Facilities for Vulnerable Groups” with four socially responsible companies?Kyungdong Navien Co., Ltd., Gaenari Wallpaper Co., Ltd., Noroo Paint Co., Ltd., and KCC Glass Yeoju Plant?as well as the Gyeonggi Social Welfare Community Chest and the Gyeonggi Environmental Energy Promotion Agency.


The project to create clean breathing spaces in facilities for vulnerable groups targets places with high indoor pollution levels, such as senior centers and welfare facilities used by vulnerable populations. It involves measuring and improving indoor air quality. Facilities with poor measurement results will receive free support including eco-friendly wallpaper, flooring, paint, kitchen hoods, and ventilation purification systems, along with indoor air management consultations.

This year, 100 facilities for vulnerable groups below the legal size threshold will be supported.


According to the agreement, Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Environmental Energy Promotion Agency will be responsible for measuring indoor air quality and selecting target facilities. Kyungdong Navien Co., Ltd. will provide air quality improvement products such as ventilation purification systems, while three manufacturers?Gaenari Wallpaper Co., Ltd., Noroo Paint Co., Ltd., and KCC Glass Yeoju Plant?will supply eco-friendly building products such as wallpaper, paint, and flooring free of charge.


Park Dae-geun, Director of the Environmental Health and Safety Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, “From 2016 to last year, Gyeonggi Province has provided free eco-friendly wallpaper, flooring, paint, kitchen hoods, and ventilation purification systems to 2,135 facilities used by vulnerable groups to improve indoor air quality. We will continue to work with socially responsible companies to improve indoor air quality for vulnerable populations.”
