Jangseong-gun Holds Briefing Session on 'Clean Jeonnam Top Village Creation Project'

Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do held an explanatory meeting for the ‘Clean Jeonnam Eutteum Village Creation Project’ on the 16th at the small performance hall of the Jangseong Culture and Arts Center.

According to the county on the 17th, the meeting for participating residents proceeded in the order of explaining the project details, announcing the implementation schedule, listening to residents’ opinions, and presenting best practice cases.

Before the event began, a ‘cheering performance’ attracted attention. Residents held small banners and shouted the slogan “Jangseong-gun Eutteum Village Made by Our Own Hands,” pledging to successfully promote the project.

This year, the county plans to newly select 46 Eutteum Villages, providing 5 million won each to a total of 137 villages, which can be used to improve the village environment through activities such as mural painting and tree planting or to renovate aging facilities.

The best practice presentations were given by residents of Songsan Village in Bukim-myeon, selected as an excellent village in 2021, and Maekdong Village in Hwangryong-myeon, selected last year.

Songsan Village improved the aesthetics by installing solar-powered LED lights in dark alleys.

Maekdong Village planted trumpet creepers and crape myrtles in the hometown of Joseon Dynasty Confucian scholar Kim Inhu, who is enshrined at the UNESCO World Heritage site Pilamsuwon Confucian Academy.

Since participating in the ‘Clean Jeonnam Eutteum Village Creation’ project in 2021, the county has achieved the selection of a total of nine villages as ‘excellent villages.’

County Governor Kim Han-jong said, “The Clean Jeonnam Eutteum Village Creation Project is playing a significant role in improving the village environment and fostering resident harmony,” adding, “The county will not spare support necessary to strengthen residents’ capabilities.”
