On the 16th, a naked male body was found in a sewer pipe of a stream in Uijeongbu-si, Gyeonggi Province. The National Forensic Service conducted an autopsy and concluded that the cause of death was "unknown."

On the 17th, the Uijeongbu Police Department stated, "We received the initial forensic opinion from the National Forensic Service indicating that both the cause and time of death are unknown." The National Forensic Service added, "Although the ribs were fractured, the injuries were not fatal," and "It is not possible to estimate the time of death."

Earlier, around 2:40 PM on the 16th, an unidentified male body was discovered in a sewer pipe of a stream in Ganeung-dong, Uijeongbu-si. The body was found by construction workers conducting a preliminary survey for a stream waterway construction. Upon receiving the report, police and fire authorities found and retrieved the body submerged about 8 meters inside the sewer pipe entrance. The body was naked at the time of discovery and was significantly decomposed.

The day before, the Northern Gyeonggi Police Agency's forensic team collected fingerprints from the body to identify the deceased, but no matches were found. The police are also conducting DNA comparison tests on the body.

The police stated, "A tattoo approximately 20 cm in size featuring an eagle mark and the word 'Haebyeongdae' (Marine Corps) was found on the left scapula of the body." Based on this tattoo, the police estimate the deceased to be a Korean national and plan to conduct inquiries targeting the Marine Corps veterans association.
