The education was tailored to the seniors' perspective, enhancing understanding by focusing on examples such as types of elder abuse and sex crimes. To prevent traffic accidents in advance, the session emphasized refraining from nighttime operation of agricultural machinery like tillers, the dangers of drunk driving, and wearing bright-colored clothes at night, raising awareness about frequently occurring traffic accidents.
According to population statistics announced by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety in November last year, among the total population of 90,410 in Muan-gun, 18,928 are aged 65 or older, accounting for 20.94% of the total population. Along with the increase in the elderly population, elder-related crimes are also on the rise, making social interest and reporting urgently necessary.
Kang Yong-jun, chief of Muan Police Station, stated, “In line with the rapidly aging society, we will do our best to prevent crimes by providing various customized education and promotional activities for the elderly, as well as encouraging active interest and reporting from those around them.”
