Goheung Sun Valley Resort Receives Support for MICE Facilities

Gohung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Young-min) announced on the 17th that it has been selected for the Jeollanam-do-led ‘MICE Infrastructure Development Support Project’ and will receive over 30 million KRW in funding for facility modernization projects, including the renovation of the sound system at Gohung Sun Valley Resort.

The ‘Jeollanam-do MICE Infrastructure Development Support Project’ aims to support differentiated MICE facilities (such as corporate meetings and conventions) linked to the region’s excellent resources including nature, ecology, history, and culture.

Gohung Sun Valley Resort, selected for the project, is located at Gohungman Waterfront Sunset Park, where visitors can enjoy views of both the coast and freshwater lake. It has conference facilities that can accommodate about 600 people and lodging facilities for 900 people.

Nearby are aviation facilities such as the Gohung Drone Center and Gohung Aviation Center, as well as smart farms, providing sufficient MICE demand.

A county official said, “We hope to establish MICE infrastructure that leverages the region’s strengths to attract various events.”

Meanwhile, the Gohungman Waterfront Sunset Park area is a popular tourist destination every year, known for the Gohungman Cherry Blossom Road, canola flower fields, and mackerel fishing on the breakwater. Currently, projects such as the creation of a sensory experience forest, expansion of nighttime landscape lighting, and the Gohungman Sunset Garden are underway, enhancing its status as an ecological experiential tourist site.
