Gu Jacheon, chairman of the Gyeongnam Korea Choir Festival Organizing Committee, announced that from this year, the Korea Choir Festival will be upgraded to a purely private choral cultural event and conducted as a prestigious international-level choir festival.

Starting this year, the Gyeongnam Korea Choir Festival has been transferred from being hosted by the Gyeongnam Christian Association to a private organizing committee. On May 2nd, the festival will feature performances by eight professional choir teams along with various events such as the Autumn Choir Night and the Choir Person Award ceremony.

The Gyeongnam Korea Choir Festival Organizing Committee stated that with over 150 pure amateur choirs active in Gyeongnam and the growing choral population, they decided to organize the event with special sponsorship from Gyeongnam Province and Changwon Special City, aiming to develop Gyeongnam into a world-renowned choral city.

The concert opening on May 2nd at Seongsan Art Hall will showcase eight professional choirs from across the country, including Anyang City Boys and Girls Choir, Kong's Choir, Man's Qualification Youth Choir, Gumi City Choir, Songpa District Choir, Classicus Choir, Korean Male Choir, and Naju City Choir.

For the main choral performance event, the organizing committee stated that they will create a festive atmosphere enjoyed by the audience through a pre-event lobby concert and a grand joint performance by all participating choirs during the final segment.

Chairman Gu said, "It is our historical mission to develop Gyeongnam into a world choral city. From this year onward, we hope to elevate the festival to a genuine world choir festival and make Gyeongnam a globally renowned choral destination."

Meanwhile, the Gyeongnam Korea Choir Festival Organizing Committee held a board meeting on March 16th, forming this year's organizing committee and resolving to hold the choir festival with budget contributions from Gyeongnam Province, Changwon Special City, and private sponsoring companies.

In particular, the board resolved to develop the festival into a genuine world choir festival starting next year.
