Samsung Electronics received the Presidential Award at the 2024 World IT Show (WIS 2024), the largest information and communication technology (ICT) exhibition in Korea.

On the 17th, at the ‘ImpaCT-ech’ awards ceremony of the 2024 World IT Show hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT, Samsung Electronics was awarded the Presidential Award for developing the world's first 12nm-class 32Gb DDR5 DRAM. The 32Gb capacity is the largest ever for a single DRAM chip. The ImpaCT-ech awards recognize digital innovation convergence technologies.


The Ministry of Science and ICT is holding the 2024 World IT Show at COEX in Seoul from the 17th to the 19th under the slogan “Innovation in Daily Life Created by AI.” The event allows visitors to experience changes in daily life through AI, and industry leaders from various fields will give lectures at conferences on the future envisioned by generative AI, AI semiconductors, and more. The exhibition features 1,188 booths in a 7,000-pyeong (approximately 23,100 square meters) exhibition hall, with participation from 446 companies and institutions from 10 countries.


Samsung Electronics also received the Minister of Science and ICT Award for its ‘2nd Generation 5G MMU Platform,’ a high-power, eco-friendly 2nd generation 5G multi-input multi-output base station platform.


In his opening remarks, Minister Lee Jong-ho of the Ministry of Science and ICT said, “An uncharted path lies ahead of us, and the protagonists of this journey are the participants at the forefront of rapid changes where opportunities and challenges intersect. I hope you will join us in helping Korea leap forward as a digital powerhouse and model country in the era of digital transformation. I also extend my congratulations to the participants who have earned the honor of receiving awards.”
