Lotte Wellfood (formerly Lotte Confectionery)'s three types of 'Easy Protein Protein Bars' have sold over 3 million units within three months of their launch. Lotte Wellfood plans to release products with increased protein content in the snack and ice cream categories as interest in weight control grows during the summer.
On the 17th, Lotte Wellfood announced that the cumulative sales of high-protein bars, multi-protein bars, and plant-based protein bars exceeded 3 million units within three months of their release. In January, Lotte Wellfood launched three types of Easy Protein protein bars to strengthen the identity of the protein-specialized brand Easy Protein and to actively target the health and wellness market.
Easy Protein protein bars are next-generation protein bars developed with a focus on addressing consumer complaints about calories and sugar content under the message "Redesigning all protein." According to the food industry, the domestic protein market size, which was around 80 billion KRW in 2018, is expected to have exceeded 400 billion KRW last year, continuing its growth trend. This represents about a fivefold growth in five years.
Easy Protein's lineup will expand significantly as interest in weight control and diet management increases during the summer. In addition to beverages and bar forms, various products including snacks and ice cream will be introduced to actively increase the sales proportion in the health and wellness category.
The potato snack 'Easy Protein High-Protein Potato Chips' is characterized by being oven-baked to remove oil while preserving the savory flavor of potatoes. It is a high-protein snack containing 12g of protein per 50g bag, equivalent to two eggs, with lower calories and fat compared to regular snacks.
Available in two flavors: ▲Salt Bread Flavor ▲Spicy Cheese Flavor. The Salt Bread Flavor uses sea salt and Isigny butter to deliver an addictive salty umami taste. The Spicy Cheese Flavor boasts a subtle spiciness lingering on the tongue, made with chili seasoning, Parmesan cheese, and Camembert cheese. Each bag contains 195 kcal and 190 kcal respectively, making them light and perfect as beer snacks. Additionally, the thinness of the 'Easy Protein High-Protein Potato Chips' provides a crispy texture that enhances the natural taste of potatoes. Lotte Wellfood will hold a launch event called 'Show Off Your Exercise Club' on its official Instagram account, offering various prizes.
Two types of bar-shaped ice cream, 'Easy Protein High-Protein Ice' (Banana Crunch, Coffee Crunch), which reduce sugar and calories while filling protein, are also scheduled for release at the end of April. With 6g of protein and only 99 kcal, it is a summer dessert that diet-conscious consumers can enjoy without guilt.
A Lotte Wellfood official said, "We are expanding the Easy Protein brand lineup so that protein can be consumed through various everyday foods," adding, "We plan to increase the sales composition ratio of health and wellness products such as Easy Protein to about 16-25% by 2027."
