Four Ecotourism Attractions Including Yangpyeong Dumulmeori to Be Developed

Gyeonggi Province is developing four locations?Gimpo Aegibong Peace Ecological Park, Yangpyeong Dumulmeori, Goyang Korea Aerospace University and Hwajeon Village, and Gapyeong Cheongchun Station 1979 Park area?into tourist attractions that incorporate historical, cultural, and ecological stories.

On the 17th, Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization announced the results of the ‘2024 Historical, Cultural, and Ecological Tourism Convergence Content Development Contest’ reflecting this plan.

Gyeonggi Province will invest between 60 million and 90 million KRW in these four regions to operate tourism content utilizing various local resources.

Key details include Gimpo City introducing the ‘Jogang Eco Picnic Program,’ which offers diverse experiences with guided tours around northern Gimpo tourist sites, along with media content featuring the story of the old grandfather river ‘Jogang’ and a program to experience the history and ecology of Aegibong called ‘Aegibong Peace Ecological Park Tourism Content.’

Yangpyeong County will operate the ‘Dumulmeori Mullaegil Life (Humanities + Ecology) Trekking,’ a product connecting ecological resources centered on the representative tourist site Dumulmeori. This program offers experiences with humanities and ecological explanations at ‘Dumulmeori,’ selected as one of Korea’s Top 100 Tourist Attractions, and ‘Semiwon,’ designated as Gyeonggi Province’s first local garden.

Goyang City will integrate seven popular programs from last year’s Goyang Future Job Festival, in which the academic club of Korea Aerospace University participated, including drone mini-games, hot air balloon rides, and stargazing, along with three new programs to provide a special experience.

Gapyeong County planned ‘Retro Cheongpyeong, Flying Again’ based on the local attraction ‘Cheongchun Station 1979’ area. Starting in August, it will offer tourism content connecting generations through retro-themed cultural experiences such as ‘Summer Night Picnic Concert,’ ‘Summer Night Retro Music Cinema,’ and ‘Retro Cheongmyeong Visible Radio.’

Park Yang-deok, Director of the Tourism Industry Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, “All four selected locations are tourist attractions with diverse and long-standing stories,” adding, “We will continue to enhance the competitiveness of Gyeonggi Province’s tourism content while presenting safe, enjoyable, and meaningful tourism programs.”
