On the 16th (local time), Israel's Foreign Minister Katz stated on the social networking service X, "This morning, I sent letters to 32 countries and spoke with dozens of foreign ministers and influential figures," adding, "I urged sanctions on Iran's missile program and the designation of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization."
Minister Katz explained, "Along with military responses to (Iran's) missile and drone launches, we are leading diplomatic attacks against Iran." The related post also tagged government and political accounts of the countries to which the letters were sent, including U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and U.K. Foreign Secretary David Cameron.
According to U.S. and Israeli foreign media, Israel's wartime cabinet reviewed military plans in response to Iran during a roughly three-hour meeting the previous day. It is also known that diplomatic measures to isolate Iran were discussed at this meeting.
Earlier, Iran identified Israel as behind the bombing of its consulate in Syria on the 1st, and on the night of the 13th, attacked the Israeli mainland with armed drones and cruise and ballistic missiles. This is the first direct military attack on Israeli territory since the two countries became hostile after the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
