Saving up personal funds like savings deposits to help juniors

Lee Seong-gyun, CEO of Cheongyang Industry and an alumnus of the National Pukyong National University, generously donated 100 million KRW to his alma mater, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

Lee Seong-gyun, who enrolled in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (now Mechanical Systems Engineering) at National Pukyong National University in 1975, visited the university president's office on the 16th and presented the development fund to President Jang Young-soo, asking for it to be used for the advancement of the university.

CEO Lee said, “I have always watched the growth of my alma mater and wanted to participate in its development,” adding, “I am glad to join the donation in this meaningful year marking the 100th anniversary of the university’s founding.”

He currently serves as the vice president of the National Pukyong National University Alumni Association and has gathered this development fund by pooling his personal savings, including long-term deposits, the university reported.

Lee stated, “I have received a lot of help from many alumni seniors and juniors, not only during my university days but also until now. I hope this donation will lead to better connections, be helpful to someone, and be used meaningfully.”

He continued, “I sincerely send great support and encouragement, hoping that the juniors at my alma mater will take pride and attachment to their chosen fields and do their best.”

National Pukyong National University is conducting support projects for university development, including the ‘100th Anniversary Development Fund (New-Turn 100)’ campaign and small donation campaigns, in celebration of its 100th founding anniversary this year.

Following recent donations of 100 million KRW from former President Kang Nam-joo and 120 million KRW from former President Jang Seon-duk, last month President Jang Young-soo and Seo Young-ok, CEO of Fine Technology Co., Ltd., each donated 100 million KRW, continuing the trend of development fund contributions.
