Ruling and Opposition Parties to Attend 'Memorial Ceremony' Together

Quietly, quietly, quietly stay there." Lee Seung-hwan has been commemorating the victims of the Sewol Ferry disaster every April 16th through his SNS.
On April 16, 2014, the passenger ferry Sewol, en route from Incheon to Jeju, sank near Byeongpungdo Island off Jodo-myeon, Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do, resulting in a major tragedy with 304 passengers dead or missing. The post received an explosive response from netizens. Within six hours of posting, it garnered 1,157 reactions and was shared 73 times, attracting significant attention. Netizens expressed sympathy with comments such as "We will not forget and will remember," "My heart feels heavy," and "It hurts so much."
On the 10th anniversary of the Sewol Ferry disaster, memorial events are scheduled to be held across the country. A memorial ceremony on a ship will take place near Donggeochado Island, Jodo-myeon, Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do, where the disaster occurred, to honor the victims and console the bereaved families. Additionally, the 'Sewol Ferry Disaster 10th Anniversary Memorial Ceremony' will be held in the afternoon at Hwarang Park in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province. Political figures from both ruling and opposition parties will attend the ceremony together.
