Selected 10 Locations Nationwide, 3 Years of National Funding Support
Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 16th that the project "The First National Heritage I Met - Meeting General Macheonmok's Goblin," promoted as a national heritage utilization project, has been finally selected as a "National Heritage Utilization Representative Brand Project" designated by the Cultural Heritage Administration.
The "National Heritage Utilization Representative Brand Project" is a project developed by the Cultural Heritage Administration since 2008 to select representative projects among excellent projects or those previously inducted into the Hall of Fame from the "Regional Cultural Heritage Utilization Projects" and develop them into Korea's representative brands.
Among the national heritage utilization projects operated nationwide, 10 final sites were selected, and with Gokseong-gun being finally chosen, its excellence was recognized externally.
"The First National Heritage I Met - Meeting General Macheonmok's Goblin" is a program planned to familiarize people with the treasure "Macheonmok Jwamyeonggongshin Nokgwon" and goblin folklore through puppet shows and hands-on experiences. It was consecutively selected as an excellent project from 2021 to 2023 and was also registered in the Cultural Heritage Administration's Hall of Fame last year.
With this selection as a representative brand, Gokseong-gun will receive national funding support for three years from next year until 2027, and the project will be systematically promoted through the publication of promotional booklets and related projects.
An official from the county stated, "This selection as a representative brand proves the excellence and value of Gokseong-gun's cultural content, and in 2024, we will welcome residents and tourists with even richer cultural heritage utilization programs."
