The Only Local Government Conducting a 'Specific Gender Impact Assessment'
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 16th that it was selected as the best institution in the '2024 Gyeonggi-do Gender-Responsive Policy Evaluation' conducted by Gyeonggi Province.
This evaluation was conducted by Gyeonggi Province targeting 31 cities and counties to assess last year's gender-responsive policies. The province selected 9 excellent cases and 4 outstanding institutions. Yongin City was chosen as the best institution in 2021 and was selected for excellent cases in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
The city received high praise for being the only local government in the province to conduct a 'Specific Gender Impact Assessment,' evaluating the overall impact of policies on gender and the causes of gender discrimination, and improving identified issues.
In addition, the city explained that it is operating policies to promote gender equality, including ▲ strengthening the gender impact assessment system infrastructure through a department collaboration task force (TF) team ▲ promoting gender-responsive policies by hiring gender equality specialists ▲ reflecting gender-responsive education scores in internal performance evaluations ▲ conducting gender impact assessments with citizens ▲ achieving 100% implementation of self-improvement plans for gender impact assessments ▲ exceeding government joint evaluation performance in gender impact assessments ▲ producing the 2023 Yongin City gender-responsive statistics ▲ and revitalizing the operation of the Gender Impact Assessment Committee.
A city official stated, "We will establish high-quality policies that reflect diverse opinions to create a society where all citizens are respected without discrimination."
