This evaluation was conducted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare targeting 226 basic local governments to discover and support welfare crisis households during the winter season. The Ministry selected excellent local governments by evaluating performance in discovering and supporting welfare crisis households, efforts in self-discovery, public-private cooperation, and contributions to resolving welfare blind spots.
To eliminate welfare blind spots during the winter, Osan City formed a task force (TF) involving public and private sectors such as the city, health center, administrative welfare centers, welfare facilities, and honorary social welfare officers. Along with this, the city explained that various welfare crisis household discovery efforts received high evaluations, including ▲establishing the Osan Care Talk reporting system ▲Knock ON win-win cooperation project ▲pilot project to identify the whereabouts of disconnected crisis households ▲building a crisis household discovery system using artificial intelligence (AI) and mobile apps ▲and revitalizing local welfare projects through public-private cooperation projects.
The city added that considering only two out of 31 cities and counties in the province were selected as excellent institutions, this recognition reflects Osan’s top-level capabilities in discovering and supporting welfare crisis households in the province.
Lee Kwon-jae, Mayor of Osan City, said, "This achievement is the result of cooperation by all Osan citizens," and added, "We will continue to make our best efforts to build a more solid welfare safety net."
