Hanwha Construction Division Launches '3·3·3 Safety Campaign' to Reduce Major Accidents by One-Third

Goal to Reduce Falls, Trips, and Collisions by 60% in Three Major Accidents

Hanwha Construction Division announced on the 16th that employees and on-site workers will carry out the '3·3·3 Safety Campaign' with the goal of eradicating serious accidents and reducing the three major accidents (falling, being struck, tripping) by 60%.

The 3·3·3 Safety Campaign is an activity to make it a habit to follow △ the 3-second rule △ three essential actions △ three prohibited actions to reduce the three major accidents that frequently occur at construction sites.

Since early this month, Hanwha Construction Division has declared the 3·3·3 Safety Campaign with site representatives including business division heads, and partner companies are also participating. Each site conducts daily slogan chanting, workers wearing ribbons, posting various promotional materials, and operating a voluntary reward and penalty system.

The 3-second rule of the 3·3·3 Safety Campaign is a behavioral guideline to prevent accidents by observing the surrounding environment for 3 seconds before work. The three essential actions are wearing safety belts during high-altitude work, moving through designated pathways, and tidying up before and after work to prevent accidents of falling, being struck, and tripping, respectively.

The three prohibited actions are unauthorized dismantling of safety facilities, using mobile phones during work, and simultaneous work at upper and lower levels. These prohibit behaviors that increase the possibility of accidents.

Hanwha Construction Division plans to make efforts to ensure that these behavioral guidelines are repeatedly internalized through the campaign.

Kim Yunhae, Chief Safety Officer (CSO) of Hanwha Construction Division’s Safety and Environmental Management Office, said, "The majority of accidents occurring on site are the three major accidents of falling, being struck, and tripping," adding, "We will prioritize the lives and safety of workers and reduce safety accidents through the 3·3·3 Safety Campaign, which involves all site members."
