Naver will display products recommended by an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered recommendation module tailored to individual users on shopping mall detail pages starting from the 17th. The use of AI is expected to provide exposure opportunities for products from lesser-known emerging vendors.
According to industry sources on the 16th, Naver recently conducted two rounds of testing for its AI personalized product recommendation technology called 'AiTEMS.' It will be officially applied to product detail pages on mobile and PC brand stores and Smart Stores starting from the 17th.
AiTEMS was developed to recommend a variety of products by identifying users' preferences and matching them with preference-targeting elements inherent in the products themselves. The recommended products include those the user has searched for or clicked on, the product currently being viewed, and other products that might be of interest, without being biased toward specific brands or products.
AiTEMS recommended products are displayed below the tags related to product details in Smart Store and Brand Store. On mobile, a total of 36 products (6 products per page across 6 pages) are shown, and on PC, 30 products (5 products per page across 6 pages) are displayed. Since the recommendations are personalized, different products appear for each user.
Vendors wishing to have their products exposed through AiTEMS can set the AiTEMS recommendation display to 'ON' in the Brand or Smart Store management settings. Based on the user's shopping history, if a high relevance to the currently viewed product is determined, the products will be displayed without limit on the number of exposures through related store areas.
Naver explained that during the testing period, there was an increase in AiTEMS recommendation transaction amounts and order proportions among participants, and meaningful results were derived, such as a higher click-through rate for products from emerging sellers and less popular stores.
